This wine from Jeff Carrel yet another off-the-wall idea from him is made from grapes harvested in Alsace but transported down to Jeff's winery near Narbonne and fermented there. De-classified, obviously! But what you get is a lovely, honeyed style of Alsace Pinot Gris in all but name.

But he also enjoys the freedom to experiment using a vast range of grapes, soils, and microclimates to produce ground-breaking new wines freed from those Appellation Contrôlée shackles.
