Chateau Lamothe-Vincent, Bordeaux Superieur Heritage 2019, France
Here’s the detail; plot selections based on terroir and vineyard age. Organic fertilizers only. Soft pruning. De-budding. Large leaf surface. Leaf plucking. Crop thinning if necessary. Selection of the harvest on a sorting conveyor at the cellar. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Temperature controlled fermentation (28-30 °C). 20 to 30 days vatting. Micro-oxygenation. Ageing on lees in french oak barrels (33% new) for twelve months. Total maturing time: 20 months.
Fabien says; ’Deep cherry-red with purple tints. Complex and refined bouquet of ripe red fruits, black cherry, blackberry, cedar and vanilla. Silky attack, then rich and elegant mouth, with the same flavours wrapped in full, well-integrated tannins. Fresh and well-balanced on the long mineral finish.’
Situated in the arguably unfashionable Entre-Deux-Mers to the east of Bordeaux, away from the more famous Left and Right Banks with their expensive Chateaux, comes this beacon of quality. The estate is fully organic and meticulous attention to detail and commitment to the environment at all stages of the development of the wines from the vineyard via the fermentation vats and oak barrels to the bottles is what makes Chateau Lamothe-Vincent such a magical place. Co-owner Fabien Vincent is 2024 Bordeaux Winemaker of the Year whilst brother Christophe works the vineyards. He aims to make his best terroirs shine, and just as an attentive father would do with all his children, he continuously monitors every vine.
An ideal match for red meats, lamb, roast duck. Also well suited for pasta, red sauces and cheese
