Terre d'Aione, Falanghina, Campagna 2023, Italy
Falanghina does not have its own DOCG like the other two from Terre d'Aione, but it's no less worthy for that. It is a lighter style with lovely dry fruity flavours. It's a shoe-in for oysters...forget Muscadet!
Terre D’Aione is a family winery, run by the Carpenitos. A family that has been looking after and cultivating the land for over 150 years, giving life to fine wines. They aim to pass down their tradition from generation to generation. The story of their winery is remarkable, in 2006, Angelo Carpenito with his wife Lia and brother-in-law Raffaele Izzo decided to keep for themselves the prized grapes of their estates, which until then had been given to the great producers of the area. This was the birth of the Terre D'Aione winery, and the natural continuation of a history that has been going on for over 150 years. Each of our bottles produced is an invitation to share with the history, tradition, authenticity, beauty and innovation of the Carpentinos. The name ‘Terre D’Aione’ comes from a hero story the Carpentinos were told as children. One story told the deeds of a Lombard prince, Aione II , who in the 11th century had built a tower – Turris Aionis – a bulwark against the incursions of barbarians and aggressors from other districts. The courage of the prince allowed him to defend peasants, villages and vineyards of Tufo.
