Wine 6 - 15th December, Jeff Carrel, Dans L’Air Du Temps, Pinot Noir
It's a Sunday, and if you want to ‘slow down’ then this Pinot Noir is perfect. It pairs beautifully with a Sunday Roast, stir fry, or scrambled eggs.
Jeff Carrel produces many different styles of wine and for Christmas we have selected his Pinot Noir - the great Burgundian red grape produced here in the Languedoc. Considered to be one of the 50 Great Red Wines of the World: 93/100 “The nose sends aromas of black fruits, sweet spices and torrefaction” according to Jeff…and we pick up some serious “chocolate” notes too. The palate is round and fresh with a smokey and fruity finish. It's good with fish, but even better with poultry, veal, and we’ll say it again since it is Sunday after all…scrambled eggs.

The Real Wine Story
If the wider Languedoc region of southern France were a country in its own right, it would be our favourite wine-growing country. It boasts an increasing level of quality regional wines conforming to the structures and confines of Appellation Contrôlée and is consistently experimenting with a vast range of grapes, soils, and microclimates to produce ground-breaking new wines freed from those Appellation Contrôlée shackles. Truly the best of both worlds.
Jeff Carrel reflects this freedom with his wide range of wines and styles. Jeff’s Pinot Noir was amongst the 50 Great Red Wines of the World: 93/100. Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult grape to get right, which is possibly why red Burgundy is so expensive. This version from the Languedoc has “a nose that sends aromas of black fruits, sweet spices and torrefaction” according to Jeff…and we're getting some serious “chocolate”.
