Wine 2: Chateau Lamothe-Vincent Bordeaux Reserve Merlot, France

Dec 9, 2024

The perfect red to mark making it to Friday, put your feet up and uncork for real cosy night-in feels.

From Fabien Vincent, winner of 2024 Bordeaux Winemaker of the Year, comes this fabulous claret made predominantly from Merlot. Brimming with black fruit flavours (blackberry, black cherry), red fruits (cassis, blueberry) and violets. Minerally and lightly toasted. Full-bodied, rich texture and great balance, with ripe and fine tannins. What's not to like?

The Real Wine Story
Situated in the arguably unfashionable Entre-Deux-Mers to the east of Bordeaux, away from the more famous Left and Right Banks with their expensive Chateaux, comes this beacon of quality. They produce stunning wines at all levels and all colours.

Co-owner Fabien Vincent is 2024 Bordeaux Winemaker of the Year, and we have selected his Reserve Merlot for your Advent. This record-breaking, Gold Medal-winning, Merlot-dominated beauty is marked by Fabien’s trademark deep, dark, inky colour with flavours to match. It is the benchmark at which all inexpensive clarets should aim, in our opinion. The estate is fully organic and meticulous attention to detail and commitment to the environment at all stages of the development of the wines from the vineyard via the fermentation vats and oak barrels to the bottles is what makes Chateau Lamothe-Vincent such a magical place.

As you would expect, this wine pairs well with red meats, casseroles, rich foods (both with and without meat) and cheeses. Pretty perfect all winter then…
