Wine 11 - 24th December, Felline Anarkos, Rosso Di Puglia
If the presents are wrapped, the mince pies and carrots are out, then let this rich wine warm your insides and ease you into Christmas Eve. Cherry, velvety, full of body with rounded tannins. This is a delicious blend of Malvasia Nera, Primitivo and Negramaro from Puglia in the southernmost heel of Italy. Producer Gregory aged this wine in steel barrels preserving the fruit-forward flavour giving it a style of its own. We think it's perfectly Christmassy, and a superb wine to start off your (official) celebrations!

The Real Wine Story
There is a strong sense of responsibility within the Felline Family, producers of this remarkable wine. As top man Gregory Perrucci himself puts it they have “Values, knowledge, traditions and experiences that constitute a precious heritage with which we support our work in the vineyards, in the winery, on the markets around the world. Among the people. We call it Culture, the French say Terroir.”
Gregory dedicates himself to Primitivo, to the purchase of interesting vineyards and to modern winemaking techniques, many of which learned during his numerous trips to California. Trips in which he also investigates the link between Primitivo and Californian Zinfandel. Felline is the go-to place for the best for the area’s Primitivos.
Our Advent Wine for Christmas Eve is his Anarkos which is a blend of grapes including Primitivo. You might guess from the label that this is a wine with attitude! It is a nod to the resentment felt towards big brands further north that buy wines cheaply in the area to blend into their more expensive products and supress local prices.
It's delicious. But don't just take our word for it, The Daily Telegraph wrote “another one of Mark Hughes’ brilliant finds. Absolutely delicious. Lush and plush like velvet, also juicy, scented, intense, rich brimming with the smell of violets, deep purple plums and bitter cherries. Such a joy!"
